Training

Give your people the skills and knowledge they need to make numbers work for your customers, not against them.

Training in the
Plain Numbers Method

When you become a Plain Numbers Partner, members of your team can become a practitioner – and start making numbers easier to understand.

It begins with interactive training sessions designed to help them make communications clearer. They’ll learn the Plain Numbers Method – a practical, evidence-based approach that helps you use numbers in meaningful, customer-friendly communication.

Once they’ve done the training, your practitioners will have the skills and confidence to make sure numbers are presented in a way that more people will actually understand.

Think of them as your in-house experts for making numbers work for people – turning tricky numbers into clear, customer-friendly messages.

Because when you get numbers right, every part of your communication gets better.

Who can become a
Plain Numbers Practitioner?

Practitioners can come from any area of an organisation, but they should be people involved in creating customer-facing communications.

Think about which communications or messages you most want to improve – and then put forward the people who are creating those materials to become practitioners.

You need to be a employee of a Plain Numbers Partner to become a Plain Numbers Practitioner.

How does the course work?

The training takes place online via Zoom and consists of four sessions spread over five weeks.

This structure allows participants time to reflect on their learning and complete a final exercise between sessions three and four.

Each session will last an hour and a half, and is led by our Partnerships team.

We encourage active participation through activities and discussions. Participants will also work through exercises in a workbook before and between sessions, reinforcing key concepts and helping them put theory into practice.

The final session is a great opportunity to put your new skills into practice by improving a real communication.

What does the training cover?

The programme provides everything needed to become a Plain Numbers Practitioner.

Key topics include understanding numeracy as a customer vulnerability, mastering the Plain Numbers Method, and developing skills and insights to enhance communications.

Our method is principles based, which means its flexible and can be applied to any piece of communication across any channel.

I found the training really beneficial, and it’s caused me to look at numbers within communications in a whole different way!
