Signal forms alliance with Plain Numbers to further their commitment to excellence in customer comprehension.

Signal, who work with leading regulated brands to build out capability for better customer communications, has strengthened its commitment to customer-led experience design by becoming a Plain Numbers Partner.

The partnership underscores a shared passion for a customer-first mindset and applying behavioural science insight for customer good. Signal, recognised for its expertise at the intersection of CX, regulation and technology, is extending its capabilities with the Plain Numbers Approach.

The Partnership was officially launched at Signal’s event “Business Transformation for Brilliant Customer Communications” where Plain Numbers Chief Executive Mike Ellicock joined the panel to discuss how firms can meet their customers’ needs around communications.

Welcoming the Partnership, Mike said: “At Plain Numbers we are delighted to be starting this new Partnership and welcome Signal to our growing community of Partners. We always seek Partnerships with organisations who share our values and can play an active part in our mission to improve the way numbers are communicated everywhere. I’m confident that working with Signal will help us do exactly that.”

Plain Numbers trains communications professionals in how to best communicate numbers. Currently, poor numeracy in the UK effects around half of the working age adult population. That’s almost 20 million people who could struggle to understand important concepts companies are communicating to them.

The Plain Numbers Approach works. In randomised control trials, on average, the number of customers who understood the communications doubled where it was applied. We have continued to see excellent results from our Partners who have applied the Plain Numbers Approach through their own testing methods and have seen that the Approach works across all sectors and types of communication.

Emily Gore, Chief Client Officer at Signal said of the partnership “incorporating the Plain Numbers Approach adds another powerful dimension to our advice, when it comes to driving better outcomes for customers – especially those who are vulnerable, or who find financial concepts harder to grasp. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Plain Numbers and further strengthening our offer for regulated firms.”
